Ski/Snowboard Rentals

There are a number of different ski shops available in the area, but if you are looking for some recommendations, we recommend the following:

Ski Butlers:  This is a company in the area that offers a great, unique ski/snowboard rental experience-they come to you!  When you have a  rental reservation through Ski Butlers, they will actually come to your unit and fit your boots, skis/board and poles right in the comfort of the living room!  Then at the end of the stay, they will come pick them up from you at the unit before you depart (they cannot be left in the unit-you have to be there when they come pick them up).  Another great service that they provide is that if you have any issues with your equipment during your stay, you simply call them and they will meet you at the base of the mountain within an hour! Their prices are not the cheapest, but it's definately worth the extra couple of dollars for the amazing services that they provide (they're still cheaper than renting at the resort!).

Team Managers:  Talk about convenience-check in at Mountain Managers and then walk right next door and rent your ski/snowboard equipment!  They also have gloves, hats, helmets and other gear available in case you forgot something when you were packing.  Their prices are some of the lowest in the county!

Precision Ski & Golf: If you're looking to get a fresh coat of wax or get your edges sharpened when you get into town, Precision is the place to take your gear!  They also offer high end ski rentals, so if you're an experienced skier, this is the place to go to rent your skis (it is more expensive of course, but you get what you pay for).

Transportation

Summit Express:  This is a new company in the area that offers a great transportation service at the cheapest rate in the county!  They provide transportation to and from the Denver International Airport only.  Whether you need just 1 seat in a van, a private suburban or a private van, they can help get you up to the high country with ease.  Make sure you are staying in an area that is close to a bus stop or walking distance to restaurants, shops and grocery stores though as you don't want to be stranded in your rental unit should you take a shuttle from the airport and then have no way around town.

Summit Stage:  The Summit Stage is our local bus service that services all of Summit County, as well as Leadville!  This is a free bus service that runs long hours in the winter.  Feel free to look at their website to view their current routes (changes depending on the season-same as the hours of operation).  Or you can always call them if you have questions.

Bike Rentals/Service (Summer Only)

Team Managers: Summit County has a great bike path that runs throughout the entire area.  After checking in at Mountain Managers, just swing into the bike shop next door and you can rent bikes to use during your stay for a very reasonable price.  Or if you're driving into the area and plan on bringing your bikes with you, you can get them tuned and serviced here as well!

Lift Tickets

The best way to purchase discounted lift tickets is to either buy them at a local grocery store (the ones in Denver off of Interstate 70 tend to have the best deals) or you can sometimes purchase them at the local ski shops.  The other option, depending on how long you're going to be here and how far in advance you're booking, is to purchase a season pass.  With lift ticket prices being so high these days, it's usually a better deal to get a season pass in the fall, rather than buying lift tickets for 7 days (season passes are usually around $500-$600, whereas a day lift ticket can be near $100!).

Other useful information

Make sure you take a look at our Travel Tips, especially if this is your first time coming to the Rocky Mountains.  The most important tips to check out are the high altitude prevention tips.  If you have had altitude sickness before, or if you feel the symptoms of high altitude sickness while you are here, bottled oxygen can be very helpful.  24 Hour Oxygen is a local company that provides oxygen bottles to visitors of Summit County to use during their stay for a reasonable cost.  If you're unsure of whether or not you might need it, it's best to call them or speak with your doctor on whether or not this may be something you want to look into further for your stay.
